Saint Louis, a major midwestern city located along the Mississippi River, is considered a historical epicenter for commerce and trade, with its creation and founding credited to the Louisiana Purchase of 1803.
The city is often referenced as the “Gateway to the West,” which is symbolized by the Gateway Arch, a 630-foot tall national monument. The St. Louis metro area is home to approximately 2.8 million people and is known for hosting the 1904 World’s Fair and Olympics (featuring the debut of the modern ice cream cone), the Anheuser-Busch Brewery, soulful blues music, and significant moments in Civil Rights history.
The city is also known for culinary attractions such as toasted ravioli, gooey butter cake, frozen custard (ice cream), and special St. Louis-style pizza with provel cheese.
