Saint Louis University's School of Medicine offers graduate students the opportunity to pursue a master's or doctoral degree in fields that include anatomy, medical sciences, family therapy, and pharmacology and physiology.  

Anatomy

The School of Medicine offers both a master's degree and a doctoral degree in anatomy through its Center for Anatomical Science and Education. The master’s degree prepares students for teaching, research and additional education while the doctoral program emphasizes training in clinical human anatomy and independent research for individuals seeking careers in medical school or university teaching.

Anesthesiology

The anesthesiologist assistant (AA) program is a 27-month, year-round graduate program with a rigorous didactic and clinical curriculum. The inaugural class will start May 2025. Applications are currently being accepted for the 2025 matriculation cycle.

Biomedical Sciences

The School of Medicine also offers several graduate programs in biomedical sciences. Students apply to a core program. Upon acceptance, they begin a year of multidisciplinary coursework and four formal laboratory rotations that lead to the selection of a graduate advisor and entry into one of the four distinct Ph.D. programs. Programs include biochemistry and molecular biology, molecular microbiology and immunology, pathology and pharmacological and physiological sciences.

Health and Clinical Outcomes Research

The Department of Health and Clinical Outcomes Research offers students three programs: the Master of Science in Health Data Science (HDS), the health outcomes research Ph.D. program, and a dual-degree option combining our Ph.D. and the M.D. degree. No matter the program, students will learn how to use tools such as predictive modeling and machine learning, R, SAS and others to analyze health care data and make real-world connections to improve the delivery of health care.

Medical Science

The Master of Science in Medical Science (M.S.M.S.) program is a rigorous one-year master's degree that mirrors the structure of the first year of medical school and prepares students for application to medical school as well as entry to other health professional schools such as nursing, physician assistant and dentistry programs.

Medical Family Therapy

SLU's medical family therapy program, offered through the Department of Family and Community Medicine, trains marriage and family therapists who engage in service to individuals, couples, families, and the community. The master's and doctoral programs are offered in full- and part-time formats.

Students pursuing an M.D. at Saint Louis University may also choose to customize their education by enrolling in a dual-degree program in business, public health or physician-scientist training.
